SkeeterCast started with a simple frustration: existing weather apps don't understand what matters to someone heading offshore at 4am. We needed more than just a temperature and a rain percentage. We needed to know the sea surface temperature breaks, the chlorophyll concentrations, the current direction, the inlet bar conditions, and whether the Gulf Stream had shifted overnight.

So we built it ourselves. SkeeterCast combines real-time data from NASA satellites, NOAA weather models, ocean buoys, and 160+ NEXRAD radar stations into a single platform that gives you everything you need before you leave the dock.

• •Inlet Conditions — Bar depths, tide schedules, and safety ratings for NC inlets

Our Technology

Under the hood, SkeeterCast runs proprietary machine learning models trained on years of weather and oceanographic data. Our V3 forecast pipeline processes terabytes of satellite imagery, model output, and observation data daily to deliver the most accurate forecasts possible.

We process data from NASA (MODIS, VIIRS satellites), NOAA (GFS, NAM, HRRR, WaveWatch III, RTOFS), ECMWF, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the National Data Buoy Center to give you a complete picture of conditions both onshore and offshore.
